UFS is delighted to sit down and learn a little more about some of the staff at the Lucas UFS Pharmacy...

Peter Fell, Head of Pharmacy, Lucas UFS Pharmacy

Peter has worked at UFS for 13 years and in healthcare spanning 38 years, where his interest in science and commitment to helping people to live happier healthier lives has been instrumental to his life’s work.

“I really enjoy interacting with customers on a daily basis, and the most rewarding part of my work is being able to make a difference,” he said.

“The role is not without its challenges, especially when navigating the rapidly changing role and scope of practice and dealing with the amount of inaccurate information available on the internet.”

“At UFS we try to ensure our customers have access to engaged, well-trained pharmacists who truly care about improving and optimising patient outcomes. When you visit our Lucas UFS Pharmacy you can expect caring, engaged staff who will do everything possible to support your health and wellbeing.”

When asked what piece of advice Peter would give to his patients, he shared that total body health is key to living a longer healthier life.

“Invest in your health when you are younger and reap the benefits as you age. Nutrition and exercise are critical elements of this process.”

Megha Soi, Pharmacist, Lucas UFS Pharmacy

Inspired by her father, Megha Soi has worked at UFS for nearly two years, and has worked in healthcare for 3.5 years. She has always been passionate about helping people and working in healthcare felt like a meaningful way for her to contribute to society daily.

“My father worked in healthcare, so growing up in this environment helped me to appreciate the impact that the right advice and treatment can have on a patient’s life,” she said.

“Even through small interactions, I enjoy being able to help patients directly and make a positive impact on their health. As a Pharmacist at UFS every day is different as the role provides so much variety; a big part of the role is counselling and simplifying complex information for patients, which I love.”

“One of the most challenging parts of the role is managing workload during busy periods, as the priority is always to provide a high standard of professional care for all patients, whilst balancing speed and wait times.”

“The most rewarding part of working at UFS is knowing that I can make a real difference in patient’s health and wellbeing, and I am humbled and grateful by the amount of trust patients place in me.”

Muhammad, Pharmacist, Lucas UFS Pharmacy

Muhammad has a strong interest in chronic disease management, medication safety, and patient education, with a strong focus on improving health outcomes through personalised care.

He has worked at UFS for one year and has been in healthcare for more than 15 years, including community and clinical pharmacy practice.

“I was inspired to pursue pharmacy because it allows me to combine my passion for healthcare and helping people. I highly value the opportunity to make a direct impact on patients’ health by ensuring safe and effective use of medicines,” he said.

“I enjoy building relationships with patients and supporting them in managing their health conditions, and being part of a community-focused organisation like UFS makes the role even more rewarding.”

Outside of work, he likes spending time with family and friends, playing cricket and badminton. Muhammad believes maintaining a good work-life balance helps him stay energised and provide better care to his patients.

“UFS stands out for its strong community focus and commitment to patient-centred care. The integration of healthcare services and emphasis on quality support truly sets it apart. We are committed to the delivery of high-quality healthcare services beyond just dispensing medications,” he said.

“When patients visit the Lucas UFS Pharmacy they can expect friendly and professional service, with a focus on personalised care. We take the time to listen, provide clear advice, and ensure patients feel supported in managing their health.”

Muhammad shared that one of the most common pieces of advice he gives is for patients to take medications exactly as prescribed and he encourages them to ask questions if anything is unclear. Better understanding leads to better health outcomes.

“I wish more patients understood the importance of medication adherence and regular health check-ups, as prevention and consistency are key to long-term health.”

Fouad, Pharmacist, Lucas UFS Pharmacy

Fouad has worked at UFS for nearly 12 months and has more than 14 years’ experience in pharmacy across different settings and countries, and has a strong interest in preventative health, minor ailment management and patient counselling.

He has always wanted to combine his medical knowledge with everyday patient interaction, which he finds very rewarding.

“It’s particularly rewarding when you earn the trust of patients and they seek you out for health advice,” he said.

“What really stands out to me at UFS is the genuine care for patients. It’s not just about dispensing medications, but it’s about making every person feel supported, welcomed, and looked after from the moment they walk into the pharmacy.”

“We build connections and trust for life, not just for one visit. Building that long-term relationship is what really sets us apart.”

When asked what piece of advice Fouad would give to his patients, he shared that he wished more people knew that small, early steps in managing health can prevent bigger problems later in life.

Outside of work, Fouad enjoys watching food videos (which instantly make him hungry), playing basketball, and going for walks around the lake.
