COVID-19 Vaccinations

From 1 October 2026, COVID-19 vaccines will be funded under the National Immunisation Program (NIP).
A COVID-19 vaccine is free for people at highest risk of severe disease. This includes:
∙ People aged ≥75 years (two doses per year, approximately six months apart)
People aged 65-74 years (one dose per year)
∙ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50-74 years (one dose per year)
∙ People aged 18-64 years with severe immunocompromise (one dose per year)

People who are not eligible for a free COVID-19 vaccine may choose to purchase the vaccine privately based on discussions with their healthcare provider.
Vaccinations are administered by an immunisation accredited pharmacist or nurse. If you have any concerns, or if you have a complex medical history, we encourage you to speak to your GP prior to making an appointment.
Some pharmacies require appointments to be booked while others are able to accept walk-ins. We recommend making an appointment to ensure you are able to receive your vaccination. Please visit the Pharmacy Bookings page to make your appointment.
