Women's Healthcare Services

New healthcare services available for women

Victoria is piloting a new approach to making healthcare more accessible. UFS Pharmacies are participating in the 12-month pilot, allowing women to receive some treatments at a local pharmacy without needing to see a doctor to get a prescription first.

For the duration of the pilot program women and gender diverse people can attend a pharmacy for the following:

> Antibiotics for uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) in 18-65yo women

> Continued supply of oral contraceptive pills, without a prescription*

  • All consultations with the pharmacist take place in a private consulting room
  • Consultations are free of charge (with or without a Medicare card)
  • Medication dispensed is at regular cost

*Patient must have previously been prescribed the same kind of contraceptive pill and will need to either bring in their old prescription, bring in some of the medication in its box, or alternatively, the pharmacy may have a record of this information if it is the patient's regular pharmacy.
